What you need

Klara runs on your own machine, so your conversations never leave it. That needs a reasonably capable computer.

Kubuntu first

Plasma 6 is home. Ubuntu and other Debian-based KDE desktops may run Klara. GNOME and Windows are out of scope. Klara is built for Plasma.

GPU optional, CUDA welcome

Klara runs on CPU. An NVIDIA GPU with current proprietary drivers makes voice and larger models feel instant. 8 GB VRAM is comfortable for Klara-Voice.

Disk and memory

Disk space for the models, 16 GB system RAM recommended. After the first download, no network is needed.

Does Klara need the internet?

Once, to fetch the models and voice. After that Klara runs on your machine, never phones home and needs no account.

Do I need an NVIDIA GPU?

No. CUDA is acceleration, not a requirement. Klara-Voice is happiest with an RTX 20-series or newer and 8 GB VRAM, but the text licence is meant to run without a discrete GPU.

Can Klara really install software?

Yes. Klara can open Discover, prepare apt or Flatpak transactions and walk you through them. The polkit prompt always appears. You remain the administrator.

Does Klara work on other Linux desktops?

Klara is tuned for Kubuntu and KDE Plasma 6 first. Ubuntu and other Debian-based KDE distributions are next. GNOME, Cosmic and Windows are out of scope.

Is there a subscription?

No. A licence is a one-time purchase through Timmisun Limited ’s Tide Business account. Model updates for your major version are included. There is no seat in the cloud to renew.

How do I install Klara?

Pay on Tide, save the small klara-setup package from the email, double-click it in Downloads. Discover asks for your password once. Open Klara and leave Klara running while it fetches the local models. The installation walkthrough shows every screen.

Fourteen days. If Klara isn't right for you, write to us with the licence key and we'll refund the purchase.
