What is Klara?

Klara is a local desktop AI assistant for Kubuntu and KDE Plasma. She lives on your machine: she opens apps, installs software, teaches the desktop, and never phones home.

She is built first for Kubuntu, then Ubuntu and other Debian-based distributions running KDE. GNOME and Windows are out of scope.

Requirements

  • Kubuntu with Plasma 6 preferred; Ubuntu or another Debian-based KDE desktop may run her
  • Disk space for local models; 16 GB RAM recommended
  • Network only for the first download — after that she works offline
  • NVIDIA CUDA is welcome for larger models, not required

How you install

  1. Pay with the Tide button on this page.
  2. Save the klara-setup attachment from the confirmation email into Downloads.
  3. Double-click it. Discover asks for your password once.
  4. Open Klara from the launcher. First launch sets up the local assistant; leave her open.
